Then you should be ready to begin the U.S. Student Fulbright application. Remember, the U.S. Student Fulbright Application and, except as noted, supplementary forms, References, and the Foreign Language Report should be completed online and submitted electronically. Hard copies of the electronically submitted forms must be printed out and forwarded to IIE or to your campus Fulbright Office by the deadline stipulated.
All applications must be submitted electronically by October 20, 2008 and in hard copy by October 22, 2008 to IIE's New York office in order to qualify for awards for the 2009-2010 academic year. If you are unclear about any of the steps below, go back to the Thinking of Applying section on this website.
THE APPLICATION PROCESS The steps below refer to the Steps in the Online Application.
Instructions. All applicants should print out and review the detailed instructions on application procedure before beginning the Embark online application.
Application Form. Applicants must apply using the Embark Online Application form and must submit it both electronically and in hard copy. Applications submitted to IIE become the property of IIE. No part will be returned under any circumstances.
Prepare your Essays. Applicants must submit a two-page Statement of Proposed Study or Research and a one-page Personal Statement. These can be prepared as Word documents and uploaded into the application. If required, be sure to initiate contact with a host country affiliation and make sure that you have a letter from them by the date that you need to submit the application
Additional Forms. Depending on your Field of Study or Special Program, you may need to submit additional forms. See the Participating Country Summary and/or the section Thinking of Applying to determine if you need to submit additional forms. References/Reports. Ask the people that you would like complete letters of reference and the Foreign Language Report Form if they will be willing to do so electronically. Be sure to give these people a summary of your Project Statement and/or a description of the special Fulbright Program or type of grant. You will register these people in the Embark Online Application. Application Inspector: Review and Print. Hard copies of the electronically submitted forms must be printed out and forwarded to IIE or to your campus Fulbright Office by the deadline stipulated.

PDF Forms While the entire application can be completed online and converted into a PDF printable form, in some cases you may need to print out a form and use it in hard copy only (i.e., for referees who will not or can use the electronic version).
